The Beginning –
This could be the start of something new.
Kyle and I discovered and developed our entrepreneurship mentality over the course of our 10 month exploration. As we all know, you have plenty of time to sit and think while you are traveling and we started to optimize that time.
We were more than eager to start something new. We would watch videos, tutorials on youtube, read books all about being your own boss and how to be successful in the business world.
It dawned on us that this adventure we were embarking on was the perfect opportunity to start something on a small scale. We wanted to test the water of becoming business owners. With inspiration around us, we decided to start selling products online.
Amazon transformed online shopping and we wanted to be apart of the revolution.
While we were traveling, we reached out to stores and boutique owners to talk about their products and how we could work with them. We met amazing people along the way and now have long-lasting international business contacts. To this day, we continually update them on our success.
Kyle would sit in cafes with a coffee in hand as I wandered around various boutiques searching for resell potential. Trust me, it’s not hard to find inspiration in countries like Thailand and Indonesia.
I would return to him with photos, ideas, and a plan. Then Kyle would help sort together a budget. Which was difficult for us, but you need to spend money to make money… even if you’re on a strict budget.
Following our discussion, I would go back out to the boutiques with the set budget and purchase accordingly.
We got lucky because when you buy in bulk (3 or more of the same item) for the purpose of reselling, the vendors will likely give you a business discount. This allowed for flexibility within our budget.
Everything we did was decided together to ensure we were always on the same page.
Once the items were purchased, we kept everything in safe keeping until we were ready to return to the states. That meant four extra carry ons and some weird looks from TSA…
Bringing it back to present day, where are Kyle and I now?
Joining the resell movement –
Once you have an idea, it’s hard to know what steps to take to make it happen. We are still figuring it out along the way. Although we have already turned a profit.
We have pulled together clothing items from various boutique shops in Thailand. Items ranging from bodysuits to jean jackets.
In addition, we purchased multiple handmade basket purses and macrame hanging plant holders from Bali. Perfect for your summer wardrobe and in-house decorations.
We have incorporated international styles with the latest U.S. trends and we are excited to showcase our items on online purchasing platforms.
We are diving head first into something completely unknown and seeing what will take. Eager to learn as much as we can about how to be successful in business, we decided the only way to do that was to try for ourselves.
*Check out our stores while supplies lasts*
We are currently selling on Etsy and Poshmark while we learn what it takes to start a business. We found these two platforms to be the best for the products we are selling, thus far.
